Insurance

Post by mcandrew1894 »

Hi,

I obtained insurance on my boat this week through Hagerty Insurance. I joined the Antiques and Classics Boat Society and obtained a discount on my insurance.

It was very easy and I got no grief what so ever.

Boat US was somewhat of a pain as they wanted me to get a survey which would have cost $350-$450 in addition to the premium.

Who
Hagerty Insurance.....google them, They've been around for quite a while and they insure 1 offs and custom cars and boats. They are very popular with Antiques and Classics

What
It covers agreed value ( no depreciation)
It covers liability
It covers other uninsured boaters.
It includes coverage for winter storage while on the trailer

Where
Any inland lake or river in the United States.....It could have been ocean, but I chose not to as my boat is not for blue water.
It also covers transporation, while on my trailer, anywhere in the US.

When
NOW...for a term of 1 year

Other
They required photo's for valuation...I had no issues getting what I asked for.....The insurance was for this valuation.

I joined the Antiques and Classic Boat Society for an insurance discount...it payed for the membership anyway.

It is less than my car insurance and I have a very good driving record.
