Worthington pumps

Post by Billsteamshovel »

Hi all,

I saw a Worthington pump the other day with 76x45x76 on the maker's plate.
I'm assuming this is an indicator to its capacity?
I couldn't see inside it but it looks like the piston rods and associated bits are all brass so I'm assuming it was for pumping water.

I'll bet those are the bores and stroke in millimeters. Translates to about 3" & 1-3/4" bores x 3" stroke.
It was not easy to convince Allnutt. All his shop training had given him a profound prejudice against inexact work, experimental work, hit-or-miss work.
