Once upon a time...

Post by PeteThePen1 »

Once upon a time there was a pretty little steam launch whose cruel owners regularly neglected and mistreated her. She was left outdoors in the winter rains, snow storms and gales and got all cold, wet and worse. And then in the spring she was left near a nice big steam yacht, but still not close enough to talk.

Then one day things started to look up. A little crowd of steam launches came and collected her and took her to a party elsewhere on the lake.

But the cruel owners were still around and after the party she was put into a little boat house all on her own. They seldom came to see her and she was ever so lonely once again. Then there was a big surprise one afternoon. A nice big steam launch called Bruin elbowed his way into the boat house and settled down as if he meant to stay. And so he did, as his owners were also cruel and hard hearted and seldom came to see him. But he didn't care, now that he had found Frances Ann.

Now by and by there seemed less room in the boat house. Was it the lake level going down or was it something else? Its quite surprising what you can see on a lake if you happen to be there at the right time...

I have often wondered what they must get upto all alone- and now we know...

Scotty,

It was a visiting model that happened to be there at the same time. A lovely little freelance design, similar to SL Bat in the steamboat museum. It has a spirit fired brass boiler supplying steam to one of Martin Ransons' s oscillators. It was a little gem, and I'm not sure who was more pleased to see the other on the lake. Between the two there was quite a crowd on the beach.

Love the montage Pete, I didn't get chance to get pics today as the light ran out first, but a good day was had finished by a lot of very much needed polishing.

Look out Bruin, Francess Ann has got her jewelry on...
