Condensate Return Point

Post by JonRiley56 »

Howdy All,

I had my closed loop system out running this weekend and have a question about the return to the hotwell. I have the condensate freefalling into the hotwell now and it is splashing a bit and giving off water vapor etc. Would it be ok to extend that return spoutn down into the hotwell so the condensate returns under the surface of the water ?

Yes this is OK. You could use a short piece of automotive heater hose, that would work fine. Discharge at or near the surface of the hotwell water. I would recommend a filter basket wrapped with oil absorbing poly as the entrance point for your condensate.

Thanks Fred !!!

So I go below the surface of the water ? Right now I have the oil sorb floating on the top of the water. Is it better to set up a screen basket ? I figured the oil would come to the top and the oil sorb would pick it up there.

As usual, thanks for the help !!

P.S. - Are you going to Lee's Mills ? I think I will likely try to go up thusrday night or Friday morning and leave Sunday morning. I will pull the boat Saturday night. I have a work meeting that starts Sunday evening so will have to get back home.

Hey all

Has anyone tried to use an oil skimmer in these small launches? I have one on my parts washer and was thinking of building a smaller version for my launch.

Any thoughts?

Cheers
Scott
