New steam engine

A special section just for steam engines and boilers, as without these you may as well fit a sail.

New steam engine

Post by Urs »

Hello together
I have received my ordered steam engine from China yesterday.
It works perfectly with air.
Also, I have received a charge pump and a bronze Oiler. I think the material is worth his money!
Take a look at www.biosteamengine.com.

Interesting! These seem much more suited to our purposes, and perhaps a finer fit and finish than the relatively inexpensive agricultural engines from India that are presently available.

Are they offering boilers and related accessories as well? Buying an engine reasonably priced is only the beginning. Like wives, the initial acquisition price may be affordable, but it's the "jewelry" and "high maintenance" that makes it so costly!

Hello Bob

I know what you mean but jewelry and maintenance is only one part, as are added the consequences of some fun........

No unfortunately, BSE builds no boiler.
But the charge pump with ex Center drive and the displacement Lubricator (bronze!) are very well made.

My machine looks exactly like the machines on the BSE website.
When I look at the pictures of the welding of the Indians it shudder me!
The Chinese engines have not one welding but also no cast parts so that a future repair is easy.

Those engines are pretty! I wish I had seem this before I ordered my Indian engine and boiler. The engine is fine (just heavy) but you are right about the welds on the boiler, I am wondering how long it will last.
