A special section just for steam engines and boilers, as without these you may as well fit a sail.

How do set the main and rod bearing clearances?

You can use "plastigauge", sold at automotive supply houses to measure clearance. Thumbrule is 0.001 inches of clearance per inch of journal diameter.

You can get laminated brass shim stock from McMaster Carr. This allows for future bearing adjustments by peeling off a layer as needed.
