Rami project still exist...

Post by Rainer »

After building on other projects the last month (3D Printer - steam boat engine) I am back to the Rami Project.

I first painted all regions under the deck.

And glued in the also painted deck ribs afterwards.

In the moment I am working at the driver seats.

Thanks! I hope to find some time to build a little more the next time - you never know...

Here are the results from the last days:

Gluing the seats

Back rest mounted - outer shape of the back rest will be trimmed during the following steps

View from the stern:

Afterdeck ribs glued to the two stringers in the middle - no connection to the boat's sides jet.

Afterdeck removed again to complete all work under the afterdeck. Will do the painting here before gluing also

first coat

Post by Rainer »

First coat in the aft room. To avoid back pain I will paint this room before gluing in the aft deck.

Some areas are not painted jet because I have to fix other parts at that positions later.

Very nice work!

Your deck supports look almost like shipyard welded steel plate structures.

Yes, I am not "the" woodworker. So that is why I trust plywood and epoxy more than natural grown wood.

I started to drill some holes to lighten the structure. After 4 holes I stoped duing this because such holes are more difficult to sand and to paint than the plain structure - and the weight reduction does not really count... Now with 4 holes the support structure of 1.3 m² = 13 sqft weights about 4.4 Kg = 10 lbs
