winterizing with automotive radiator fluid
Re: winterizing with automotive radiator fluid
Wifey and I spent some years in the Andes at @ 12,000 ft. I still weep for the fluffy pancakes we were able to cook up at that altitude ...

Hi
Whatever you use, never try wind screen washing fluid, even though it is frost safe.
By a mistake I used that last winter, and even after 6 boiler wash outs with clean water and two hours idle steaming, the boiler foamed heavily when the boat came in the water and the regulator was opened for work.
It took me several hours of steaming with repeating blow downs and foam cock blow out before I was able to have any decent water level, without priming the engine.
Best regards
