I'm thinking of geting a plastic tank, what do you guys use for a float valve and where do i buy one

As long as it can stand boiling water without getting all soft. Fiberglass would work fine. No corrosion would be great.

There are some mildly concentrated loads where the float valve mounts. Some plastics get softer with heat. You might need to re-enforce it in places.

Maybe talk to your local sheet metal shop. It's surprising how inexpensively they can bend one up. Then you could get out your plumber's torch and run some solder down the joints. It's nice to have one that is just what you wanted.

Dunno about valve sources. Mine is older than I am. Found in a mare's nest of old junk in an even older hardware store way the heck out in the country. Barbara can sense a dollar store from ten miles. I can smell an old hardware store from fifteen.

Hi John,

if you're in the UK then a Part.1 ball valve (brass shuttle, unlike Part.2 with plastic diaphragm), with a copper float (it will come with plastic as standard so you will have to ask for copper).
