Check valves

A special section just for steam engines and boilers, as without these you may as well fit a sail.

Check valves

Post by johnp »

Where do i need check valves? I have 3 water supply means, and a check on the main line going into the boiler. Where else would i need them. I have a stack blower, whistle valve, blow down, main engine steam, and saftey line of course, and steam lie for injector.

Anywhere where water is going INTO the boiler, and also immediately after whatever pumping device you have (i.e. hand pump, engine feed pump, duplex, injector (not really a "pump" per say)).

If you have an economizer I would think it would be safe to say you need one before and after the economizer in case of a leak.
