Greetings from San Diego

I just stumbled across this forum and like what I see here. While I don't own a steam launch yet I do get an occasional steam fix since one of my duties at work is master of SY Medea for the Maritime Museum of San Diego. I'm currently building a Norbert Keeley 3 x 3 engine from castings I found on ebay several years back and have castings for a Stuart 6a, a Pearl single, and a Reeves Commander waiting their turn in the shop.

Welcome onboard Chris, you lucky lucky man! Cangarda is one of the most, if not THE most beautiful yachts in the world, Medea's not bad either of course

You've got a real beauty there! Reading a little of her history it sounds like she was in a similar state to Cangarda when rescued. I love it when things like that come together. I helped deliver Cangarda to Ensenada and have some pictures of loading her onto a heavy lift ship.

No hull in mind at this point. These engines will start out as conversation pieces in my living room until I make a decision.

I've been involved with Medea since '98. I was invited to go for a cruise after cleaning firesides in her Scotch boiler but when they learned that my masters ticket had enough tonnage to run her I was booted out of the engine room and sent to the bridge.

Yes, it is a wonderful thing there are still people out there who can and will take on these huge projects.

That would be Ena in Aussie! When Cangarda came to visit we were trying to think of a way to have a "World Steam Yacht Race/Tour". It involved sneaking off with a navy LSD to carry the three grand ladies from port to port. Kind of like a slower aquatic version of the Red Bull air races.
