My name is Michael and I am 49. I have had an interest in ships and their mechanical workings since I was seven. I am especially interested in the White Star Line ships and ships built by Harland and Wolff. I have a background in Mechanical Engineering, but was away from it for many years due to health issues. I retain just enough knowledge to know what I need to do, but not necessarily how to do it. I moved to Europe (Romania) from the States three years ago and love Europe and living here. I've been fortunate enough to see a bit of Europe, but plan on seeing more, and making new acquaintances and friends here.
I haven't a boat, but I am looking for an old steam launch. I live on the Danube and see the Damen shipyard almost weekly. I'm pleased to be on this forum and thank Pete for his invite and courtesy of posting my question. Also a special thank you to John for helping me out on my technical snafus.
I have had a great time looking at the data and discussions on this board and the pictures.
Best Regards to Everyone.
Greetings All.

Re: Greetings All.
Welcome Michael
Glad to see that you have made it.

, it occurs to me that if you are thinking about a boat, you might be advised to join the SBA. Our European Secretary has some useful contacts, especially in Germany who might keep an eye open for you. Of course, if you have the language competence there is always the DDV who are just down (or is it up?) the river from you. The French ABV are also a fun group, but not so well placed.
Best wishes
Pete

Re: Greetings All.
Thanks John and Pete for the welcome.
Pete, I'll certainly follow up on your suggestion. Yes, Germany is up river from here which is certainly better than being "up the creek" which I have been many times.
I didn't expect my questions to be so difficult, but as few have answered, I guess they have stumped most. Surprising I must say.
Regards,
Michael
