Taking it apart and cleaning it worked last time. Even if that doesn't turn out to be the problem, the odds are that it is and you will feel dumb if you go through some involved evolution and it turns out to be what's wrong.
Like with 'infernal combustion engines'. People come to me all of the time convinced that they have a carburetor problem. I tell them to go over the ignition system first. Not only is it usually the problem but it way easier to make it right and get that out of the way.

Re: Reluctant Steam Side of Duplex Pump
Thank Mike. Good and sensible advice indeed. My Chief and I were thinking of waiting till late Dec. or January to completely pull that GD pump, since that is when our business will be down for the winter. But we have also noticed out Penberthy Injector is just about to start working again - our lake temps are ALMOST back to 76 degrees (which is the recommended temp the manufacturer states function will happen), the Injector just didn't want to lift any 90 degree water this summer. Thank goodness the GD pump was actually being cooperative.
Don't tell me steamboats don't have their own unique "quirks & whims" and delicate sensibilities. One of her pumps decided not to work in the summer and one goes on the fritz as fall approaches and temps cool down. Funny, what?
