Bart,
Looks like you had fun in Elkhorn. I have another boat in Monterey Harbor; unfortunately not powered by steam...yet.

How were the depths in the slough?

John

We had no problems; I've run aground there once so I was checking every so often w/ the paddle, but never touched bottom. Otter only draws perhaps 20". There are definitely places that are quite shallow and it pays to keep a sharp lookout when not distracted by all the wildlife.

We didn't manage nearly enough - perhaps 25 hours of steaming. I'm trying to get out more next year... we're going to bring Otter to the Pacific Northwest and participate in the NW Steam Society meets there next summer. I should have her in the water in the San Juans for six weeks or so; despite telecommuting during the week while I'm up there, I think we'll get some hours in :D.

I'm off to London on Friday on business - hope to pick up a small mast head light to match my classic Italian brass ones while walking off some jet lag next Saturday; failing that, I'll pick up some suitable nautical souvenir.
