In the UK you can't beat Solvol Autosol. It is meant for chrome, but will polish almost anything non porous (I've seen it put a shine on matt black paint). It is also a paste, in a tube, and is available from major car accessory shops.
It seems to leave behind something that slows the tarnishing as well, unlike that other well known brass polish, which leaves white dust everywhere.

I second 'PEEK', after years of using Brasso(hdearit'sfallenoveragain) It's far cheaper than Autosol, doesn't need anywhere near as much elbow grease as any other polish I've used, and can be used on metals, paints, plastics, varnishes, glass etc., without leaving any residue (but does leave a slight coating that means you have longer between polishes).
All in all VERY impressed with 'PEEK'.

Both autosol and peek work well, the latter being avilable from BnQ and I understand, larger tescos, but not ours.
And much as though I resent the 'specialist marine product' marketing slant Miracle Leisure's brass mate gets the tarnish of quicker than most and comes in a a suitably large pot for a fairly reasonable price and can be followed up with Brasso (you have to have some on board i suppose) for finer brasses requiring a extra high gloss that the coarser polishes dont get to.
