Do I need to use anything other than never sieze on my connections to the boiler ?

Hi Jon,

I use these folks' products (Green stuff) and have always been happy with the results. Thread sealant is also an anti-seizing compound as well.

I used ordinary pipe thread sealant on my washout plugs, installed less than one year ago, (1 inch malleable iron plugs in threadolets) and had to open them for the state boiler inspection last week. Had to put a pipe onto the pipe wrench handle, and use a Spanish windlass beyond that, they were plenty tight, and I thought I would have to cut them out. They will be going back together with NeverSeez.

Hey Fred,

I never got around to ordering the stuff from Jomar. Which Neverseez do you use on your piping ? I was looking at their website and it looks like tere is more than one version.

I've used Neverseeze regular grade for 40+ years on piping that operated from 60 psig up to 600 psig and never had any problems. Also works great on deck equipment screws and nuts - put the wrench on and apply light pressure; off it comes with just finger pressure.

I am assuming you just use the Neverseez right ? I read someplace about someone using Teflon tape and Neverseez together.....

Yep - just Neverseez. I've had "deck apes" on commercial fishing boats and tow boats talk of the wonders of plain ole regular Neverseez that was put on the threads of a winch fitting or some such 10 or more years ago allow the fitting to be taken apart with ease. And one firend who operates heavy machinery in the construction industry feels it's a god send when repairing machinery in cold, rainy weather.
