wher do i find and what is it called?

the flooring with the square holes in it.

John,

Bret could answer this better, but I'm not sure if he reads this forum now.

He told me he bought those somewhere like Amazon.com? They were sold as teak shower grates, and they were not very expensive. He came to my shop and gave me one which I still have in my engine room for the step over the propshaft. They are made quite well, although I built a box frame underneath it. Lots of traffic over it, yesterday we sat the engine on it as we were pulling it and it is holding up very well.

I'd be losing stuff in the bilges even more with one of those - does look nice, though.

Bart, my father has a similar grate he made for the pilothouse of the Sandin. He put a piece of plywood on the underside for that very reason. I think he painted the plywood black so it wasn't as visible.
