I find the stainless very attractive. Especially with the brass bands.

Thanks Mike, the guys at the shop said the same, i think i'll spin the hood in auminum and polish it so it looks like stainless and dress it up with some brass rivets or screws.

Pressumably it is a casepipe funnel? If not, and its a hot flue, it will change colour when hot. Whichever it is, good luck with keeping it that nicely polished!

What about a blued (bluing used on firearms) stack with brass bands?

One used to be able to buy blued stove pipe. It was attractive and cheap. With brass bands it was great stuff on small steam locomotive boilers. Haven't seen it at the stores for ages.

Looking at the picture do you really have to ask? It's your boat -It's your expression of right-and looking at it It's Right On! I love shiny even now that I know how much effort goes into keeping it shiny especially in salt water!! Den
