Crazy auction price

I was watching a Detroit lubricator just for the heck of it to see what it would bring. This must be something special. I have two of these which are larger and picked them both up for around $50 ea. And I've seen these 1/2 pints go for about the same price. Not sure what is so rare about this :?:

Somebody wanted this one really bad. Yep, $810.00

Correction, At least two people wanted it bad! I've been seeing Brass steam related items going up in price for a few months now. I wonder if it has anything to do with the "Steam Punk" Fad?

Well, the other bidder was probably the guys buddy :D

Yep, same here on the recent prices increasing. When I seen the prices spiking on this at the end of the auction, I couldn't believe it. Propellers have really went up a lot too, three or four years ago, they were going for 50 or so, bought two for that price, now it seems they all start around 200 for anything large and usable. The fee increases from Ebay may have something to do with it too. 10% on the first $1000.

That's why I decided to make my own whistle. I bought about four of off Ebay and don't really like the sound of any of them, too "tooty" for a tug. The prices they are drawing are ridiculous. I just want a whistle that sounds right, don't care if it's a collectors item or not. That one guy (whistleman?) has or did have walls full of them. Same for the drip oil collectors, I don't get it :? :?:

Suddenly the junk on my wall is looking more interesting to me. Time to get out the Brasso! Maybe I can sell that LH prop that I've been barking my shins on.

Looks like someone playing games. I would bet money that lubricator shows up back in the listings real soon. I would say to the seller if it sounds too good to be true ,then it probably isnt. Been to a lot of auctions n my day ,and while e-bay isnt the worst for guys trying to pad the bids. It does go on a lot. But that is pretty funny.
