Hello out there,

Can anyone help me with an address of a company who can forge a crankshaft for the Stuart 6A compound engine.

There was such a company in Devon in the 90's but I cannot remember anything more about them.

I cannot help with forgings but the usual method of making crankshafts of this size is to machine from solid EN8 steel, this can be profile cut to reduce machining. There is somewhere a supplier of cast S.G. Iron cranks if you are in the SBA contact Richard Havard he may help on this.

I recently had my 6A crankshaft shear (poor manufacture) and am getting a fabricated replacement manufactured. It will be slightly heavier than the drawings and I am reliably informed that the machinist who is going to manufacture it 'does't know how to do a bad job!'. If you are interested I can pass on this contact to him.
