piston cup packing

Have reinforced rubber cup packing ever been usd in a piston feed pump? Seems that the pressure and temp. ratings could easily handle job.
My boat uses those types of packing on both feed pumps, the engine bilge pump, and the fuel pump. The pistons/shafts are chromed and polished. They last quite a while with no need for "taking up"
They work VERY well, and if one's noggin is used whilst designing the machinery, very easy to replace.
