I have this old photo of my boiler.I recognize the copper tubes, and the downcomers, but what function do the other tubes[coming from the middle of the steam drum and wandering down past the wood door and the draught door] have? Any ideas?

It appears as though the tubes connect to horizontal tubes surrounding the firebox and ashpan doors.
I think it was intended as a use of as much space as possible for heating surface.

Wes climbs trees for a living so he just swings from tree to tree above the snow. It was while doing this sort of thing in the Belgian Congo (pre-snow days for Wes) that he first saw the
African Queen and became interested in hobby steamboating. He then saw the movie about
Sand Pebble and figured that if Americans could run a steamboat, so could he.
Nice to have the "smilies" back

Oh, you know, about 4 feet since Friday.. Funny, the ground was dry on Friday and we were having record high temperatures only a few weeks ago. I can't remember a time when we've had this much snow this early in the year. Perhaps the volcano in Iceland has something to do with it..
Ron, you forgot to mention that I learned how to speak English from "The Sand Pebbles" too.
