UK members may be interested to know that SL Shamrock and Roger Mallinson appear in tonight's episode of " Great British Railway Journeys" on BBC 2 at 6.30 .

Roger gave Michael Portillo , who is the commentator and traveller , a full and comprehensive briefing/earholing concerning the evils of : speedboats , holiday cottages , ignorant local politicians and public servants , cars built after 1970 , modern tourism , fibre-glass and plastic boats , computers , coffee drinkers , the state of the roads and drains around Windermere and anything which has happened since about 1975 , modern drivers and youth today .
I expect that most of it will have been edited out but it must have been unusual for a politician not to be able to get a word in edgeways .

STEADY Maltelec ,

The Northern part of that part of the Empire remained true and loyal . It was only the Southern part , influenced by those well known Communist precursors George Washington and Benjamin Franklin (and one or two others) who indulged in the TREACHEROUS AND INFAMOUS REBELLION to which you refer .

You owe Farmerden and the other 33,979,999 Canadians a grovelling apology .

Edward

Actually there's no need to apologize. If there had been a rebellion I'm sure a Canadian hockey stick would outdo a cricket bat every time!! How can you be all those Wes? Were you born in Canada to a British subject or something? Den
