Colours.

As I'm starting to think about protecting various bits from rust, like the bed-plate etc. I wondered if there are any preferential colours that folk like to see, or are traditionally used on steamboat engines, like loco inside frames are often red? Green (Brunswick?) has always seemed popular for machinery. I'm wondering about having the bed-plate powder coated, it usually leaves a good finish. Columns will be polished stainless steel, cladding will be dark wood, varnished, brass strapping - usual stuff.

I plan to paint my next engine burgundy. It looks good against the brass.

Burgundy sounds nice, Ron. Black has some appeal, but would it make things a bit dark where you might want to see?

That it does, the steam carriage engines I play around with are typically black and they don't really stand out. Sort of disappear in the background without brass cylinder wraps etc.
