The Newton Coil Boiler Design

Hi Steamboating Colleagues

I had an interesting discussion today with a well known SBA colleague and he mentioned the Newton Coil Boiler. I quickly realised that this was a design with which I was not familiar and such knowledge was not pertinent to the conversation. However, the implication of the conversation was that it is a design that is very good at making steam and is usually fed from the top. Both those points have wetted my appetite to know more.

Thus I would be grateful to be pointed in the direction of further information or educated with a suitable tutorial.

Regards

Pete

Never heard of that particular boiler design. Anyone wishing to move to a water tube boiler for fast steaming and light weight would do well to have a look at the Ofeldt design. Some successful versions with steel center drum and copper coils have been built and are doing well. Copper coils can be simply formed on any suitable mandrel.
