Hello from Somerset, England!

Hello! A new steam boater, and recent member of the SBA here! I've just purchased a 16' steam launch requiring restoration and figured this was the place to come for all of the stupid questions I have! I dabble in anything with a steam engine in but I've always wanted a boat...

I'm currently on the hunt for a replacement boiler for my boat and shall be placing an advert in the for sale section so take a look over there if you reckon you can help.

Hi James

Welcome to the forum! You will get lots of suggestions to answer any questions you may have from the Members here. We also like lots of photos to illustrate what is going on with your project. (Photo posting is a bit wobbly on the site. It can cope with one, but not two. The trick for two is to post up one, submit your posting and then go back in and add the second photo as an Edit).

By the way, you boiler advert has been posted up on the SBA site for some time....

Regards

Pete

A few years down the line and I finally got around to the steam boat project - see the video below of Pickle's first launch at the 2025 Bristol Harbour Festival.

Nice work on a boat that runs as good as she looks (which is great).

Thank you Dan and Ken. I'm very pleased with how she turned out. Lots still to do, but she runs and is presentable, so that's a good start!

Welcome to steam boating. The list of "still need to do" changes but never gets shorter.
