Hello,
is there any thread on the Well's balanced engine? There was a short article I the second but last "funnel" edition.
Are there plans available?

Hello Axel56, the Wells balanced compound engine is of a quite unusual design. It seems that an aussie built one of these (take a look à the end of the page).

Thanks,
I think Malpas wrote the article I mentioned above. Maybe I can contact him?
Is he on this forum? Which username?

Hi

Just spotted your post so have done a bit of 'sleuthing' so to speak. The link Artemis provided is to the Old Steamboat Register. I checked the new version and that includes much the same data and does not look as if it was recently updated. Using my rights as an SBA member, I tried to match the members list and the boats list and they do not tally.

Since the boat was built over 20 years ago, it may have passed to other members of the family or have been sold on and renamed. My advice would be to write a query to the Steam Boat Association of Australia http://www.steamboat.com.au/index.htm and they may know a bit about the family concerned and the engine that interests you. The trouble is that Australia is huge and steamboaters are few, so the folks you want may have been at 'the wrong end of the country' so to speak.

Regards

Pete
