24th June saw the naming ceremony of a new steam launch on Windermere. The 28 foot 'Bluebell' owned by John & Eileen Wallace. The boat was built by local master boat builders Patterson Boat Works of Hawkeshead Cumbria.

The boat is of strip plank construction about 28ft x 7.5ft the engine is based on Cyril Taylor's larger engine castings, a compound with slide valves. 2.75 + 4.5 x 4.5. the boiler is the latest SBA services design type VFT 105 about 38 ft sq H.S. Coal fired 200 PSI, pressure vessel by TRS welding, all the rest of the plant by myself. Feed is by a hypro pump running at 1.5 x engine speed and a buffalo number 2 injector, Both direct from the lake no condenser etc.
