A little more progress. The 3/4" birch marine ply decks are laid and sealed in West system. The big bolts are called elevator bolts, I painted them black. Similar to the fasteners used on a commercial truck beds.

The aft deck area, more of a seat than a deck. Cell phone pic.

The two oak bands are formed up for the front of the pilot house, as seen in the first pic. Most of the oak is sawed and ready for assembly.

Nightshift? That would be me. :D I've lost my helpers for the last few months, seems everyone around here is working six day weeks again. The 3/8 air ratchet sure came in handy tightening all those bolts.

Bret, With the finishes available today, these boats being built will last longer without a doubt. That primer on there which is actually a sealer too, is like ceramic. Very tough finish.

Well, back to it, going to mount the big oak band at deck level for the front of the pilot house. Should be fun.

Still pluggin' away..

Here is the back portion of the pilot house framed up. There is a dado all around inside the back wall, the whole insert will be filled with 3/8" oak tongue and groove beveled planks. The two side opening will be for doors that open to the inside. The Port door will be removable, the starboard door will open against the back wall and lash. The pilot house and cabin will be constructed from White oak, then stained and matte finish. I know that door/companionway looks small, but I can walk right through it, the deep first step provides plenty of headroom for the transition, well, if you're not over 6' 2"

Lot's of work, but having fun with it.

Note the West glue on the front roof brace, working alone it fell and hit the floor in the weak direction and cracked it.

Note the dado cut in the top of the big oak band in the front, it will also be filled with tongue and groove plank, up to the window sill.
