My one cylinder engine can tick over fairly slowly but not, I suspect, below perhaps 20 r.p.m. Without a MUCH larger flywheel, that is!

Hi,

i received all the parts and checked their function using a breadboard.


I swung the magnet past the sensor by hand to check the display. That worked.


Tomorrow I will mount the setup on the lathe to check the accuracy of the gauge.

The 9V battery will be installed in the case. Then there is the switch for the supply voltage of the tachometer.

¥ou obviously read the instructions and found the correct magnet pole for triggering the display.

It is interesting to me to read the 1 and 2 star reviews on Amazon, and see that the users did not read the instructions!
Always entertaining to me to see those mistakes being made. Unnecessarily.
Glad you are making yours work.

Hi Russ,

the RPM-display is mechanically and electrically finished. It was successfully tested for function on my Variospeed drill (OPTIdrill DQ20V).

Hope it enjoys and is helpful for anybody who wants to built such device. I will use it at all my different engines, which is why I will build universal mounts for the sensor and display.

After many working hours over the past month, I finally finished the new rough sand-cast bronze 16" diameter x 24 pitch steamboat propeller,
sold to me by Pat Spurlock of Elliott Bay Steam Launch Co, in Portland, Oregon, USA!
It's now a Tylenol afternoon for my shoulders.
Pics attached (of the prop, not my shoulders...)

Next is to make boat performance tests of the old prop, and then repeat for the new prop. 'Should be fun.

That looks wonderful. I would never have thought of putting chrome plating on it, but it looks fabulous.

It will be interesting to see your performance data so good luck with the tests. I am intrigued by what one would need to do. No doubt it will be ingenious. I am still surprised that I was able to weigh Frances Anne with bathroom scales after advice from this Forum, so I am anticipating something equally amazing.
