Today I asked a boiler maker the ball park cost of the Ofeldt boiler the same as the one installed in the used boat I would like to buy that was sold for $12,000 last year.

That same boiler was 18 months ago priced at $ 8860.00 cash ( no tax ) That was just for the metal work. ( no cladding, fittings or extras ). These days in might be well over $10.000 or more.

I have ended my big boat dream building a new boat. I will however contine with my small person steamboat like that of Jorgen in the previous post. I am prepared to build a simple boat, buy used items and settle for a unique craft. If Jorgen can do it and create a lovely steam boat without spending tens of thousands of dollars then I can too. I must contact him!

Boating is always an expensive pastime but the thoughts should be about sailing out on the water not about going broke. Just my opinion there.

There is a high chance that I will go there, I looked at the website and it seems very interesting and like a lot of fun.

Would also be interested in seeing your boat when im there.

Do you happen to know if there is a marketplace aswell (engines etc), or is it only exhibition and show?

Sorry to inform that there most certain is no steam engine related market. I have been there several times before and never seen such thing.

There is a small market - and some of the dealers do sell general boat related things. There are also a few selling antique and replica stuf like lanterns and steering wheels - but no engines.

Be aware that acomodation may be problematic - at least if you want to be close to the harbour.
