Really nice to see such high standards for woodworking, as well as the rest of your steamer's metal parts, including the machinery and the hull.

If you had to guess (or maybe you already know), how many work hours have you put into this boat so far? And, are you married?

Fred, Thanks for the kind words.

Hours invested? Oh man, I don't know, haven't kept track, but I'd guess around 1500 labor. It's hard to estimate, because there were points where I didn't work on it for months. Thinking about it? Probably 8000 hours

No, not married

Single and don't watch any TV, other than a Hockey game every now and then and movies on Netflix. Here in the US, 3 hours of TV yields 1 hour of mind-numbing commercials. I stopped watching in 2007, now when I'm at someone's house and they have it on, I don't know how they watch it.

The old saying "The devil is in the details", is so true. All these little finish jobs are running in to a lot of time. And of course, I keep adding to it, My buddy said if I bolt anything else to it, It's going to roll over.

Very nice, sir. The "devil" - actually seems more angelic - really is in the details. In the wooden boat scene, they attribute over half of the hours to finishing out. For us with our steam plants, it has to beat that.

Ditto on the telly. Watching it really is like suffering from some kind of encephalitis ...

Have the Starboard door fitted as well now. Time to make some hinges.

Getting the boiler lagged today. Whit oak milled up in the table saw with a molder head. So far so good.

Then I have to make the steel bands to hold it. After that's done, the engine goes back in. Then hang all the doors, which are fitted and stained.

Hey Ron Starting to look like an old steamer now! I love all the firewood stashed in the bilge area! All kidding aside as much as the work is play-pretty soon all you will have left to do is play! And if anybody believes that-they are not steamers! Den

The lagging is done, now to Gunk/clean the bilges and put the engine back in. There is a drain pan under then engine now, hopefully the bilges will stay cleaner.
