Yes, I am not "the" woodworker. So that is why I trust plywood and epoxy more than natural grown wood.

I started to drill some holes to lighten the structure. After 4 holes I stoped duing this because such holes are more difficult to sand and to paint than the plain structure - and the weight reduction does not really count... Now with 4 holes the support structure of 1.3 m² = 13 sqft weights about 4.4 Kg = 10 lbs

Turn over the hull

Yesterday I turned the hull. With a total hull weight of 133 kg no problem.

No work at the outer hull is done before this pictures except removing the stitch wires and the surplus epoxy..

Bow and Transom Stern

Last week I reinforced the Bow and the Transom Stern

The bow was reinforced with two layers of glass roving and epoxy. Afterward I covered it with peel plies. This is designed to remove easily after cure, leaving a bondable and/or paintable surface without sanding and destroying the roving structure.

To secure a good connection between the transom stern and the hull I folded the roving down about 6 cm (ca. 2")

Because I want to get a smooth surface without to much sanding, I reduced the plywood in the folding area for about 1-2 mm (1/20")

After applying the two layers of roving and the epoxy I filled the dent with epoxy putty.

Next weekend it is planed to cover the straight rest of the hull with two layers of glass roving.

I had forgotten to show you this picture - I took it just before turning over the hull.
The reading is in kg. So 133.1 kg = 293.4 ponds = 20.96 stones = 0,15 long ton = 665500 carat = 0,74 Koku (Japan) = 3522,4 Tael (China) = 0,78 Skeppspund (Sweden)

Very nice work. When do you plan to be steaming with this new boat?

Preparing the epoxy battle at Saturday

Today I placed the glas roving on the hull to prepare the Epoxy Battle this friday.

The fabric is falling whery smoothly over the hull. No wrinkles or buckles
