A friend has that engine in Victoria BC. Did you make a copy without ever seeing or measuring the real McCoy? And yes a lesson in pattern making would be wecome! The burden of knowledge should never be too great for anyone to bear!! Den

I replied by private messsage to Den. In summary, the MIT Museum in Boston hold the Herreshoff works archive, and provided a partial set of drawings for this launch engine, and a basic plan for a boat that used it. John

John,
Would you happen to have made any more progress in the past few years?

Hi Wesley, thanks for your interest. Life has got in the way, particularly restoring an old wooden yacht, and there is little to report. I hope to get back to it.
Here is the feed pump pattern and core box.
Here is the air vessel casting, pattern and core box.

The cylinder patternmaker's layout board, by my good friend Dan Mackay.
There is a lot going on in the cores. Most are made. Here is the external cylinder main pattern.
There will definitely be progress within this decade.

John,
Those are great to see! Steam porn if you will. I would love to see more!
Do you have a full set of drawings for the engine and pumps?
