Hallo from Germany

Post by Scotty »

Hallo all together !

I come from southern Germany, near Munich.
My usual waters are Lake Constance but in near future I want to visit Scotland and the english canals.

For some years I have been involved with steamboats and helped in the design and construction.
The last two years I was involved in the restoration/overhaul of the "Dutchess of Argyll" which was sold in 2011 to Austria. One of my friends is co-owner (there are three) and so I got to work on the new boiler installation.

At present I'm fitting out my own boat (wood, 18 ft.), the boiler will be built this year and I hope to finish the boat sometime next year.

best regards
Scotty

Welcome Scotty. Plenty to look at on here and plenty of help and advice if required.

Willkommen Scotty.

There are a few of your fellow countrymen on the forum.

There is a wealth of information here with hundreds of years of collective knowledge and experience.

Do you have any pictures of your launch?

Welcome to the forum. Business trips to Scotland several times this year led me to the Falkirk wheel and several steamboat rides on the Scotch Canals. (see Rally Reports on this forum). The hospitality afforded to me by the SBA members was excellent, as are the fine launches over there.
