Re: My first steam engine

Hello I have some questions... Again. I have stripped the engine of its paint and would like to repaint it, however I cannot find the color I am looking for which is heat resistant, Yes I know I should have thought of that before stripping it but I assumed that it would be an easy color to find. Now...

Re: Ducted propellers?

Mike I wasnt really thinking of efficiency in the sense of reducing fuel consumption, but more in the sense of solely improving the efficiency of the propeller. Basically, trying to get the power you currently have and convert it into thrust. The whole point of subject is to see whether ducted props...

Re: WICK FEED oiler (box)

Ok So I have made my first test of making wick a improvised wick feed oiler to play with the rate of flow. At the momemt I am using chainsaw lubricating oil because I had it lying around, will order some oil from green velvet soon. Anyway, currently the rate is at 1 drop every 1:20 min, through 3mm ...

Re: Ducted propellers?

Keith The kitchen rudder, as mentioned before, is rather inefficient and is more of a novelty. Although the design makes for an interestint setup and conversation material, it just does not contribute to efficiency. I was actually thinking more of a real ducted propeller (kort nozzle) where the tape...

Re: Condensing P&ID

Brenton I don't know which diagram you have seen, or how detailed you need it to be, but a while back I posted some links and diagrams. Maybe this was it, or may help, its quite basic though: http://www.thesteamboatingforum.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=1039&start=30 Scroll down and there is...

Ducted propellers?

So I have been thinking (day dreamin) on how I would go about building my boat in the future, and I was wondering if anybody has ever tried to use a Ducted propeller to increase speed and efficiency, ofcourse in combination with a suited propeller for ducting? On slower displacement hulls the differ...

Re: WICK FEED oiler (box)

Thank you all for the information so far I have looked at the Heritage Steam Supply website and found a worsted wool kit with instructions, funny because I visited that website several times already and never clicked on the Worsted wool because I thought it was of no importance to me. I will just go...

WICK FEED oiler (box)

Hello all I have decided to try and make a wick feed oil box for my engine, specifically for all outer lubrication except crankshaft bearings (these will have drip feed oilers with sight glasses) At first I had the though of using a mechanical lubricator, however I have decided that a wick feed will...
