Re: My 24' Launch

I wish I'd stumbled onto this hobby when we were living out east, all these lakes and reservoirs were within an hour of where we lived and I had no idea this stuff was going on. Ah well, at least I can see it in the photos, and what photos they are. That is a very sharp steamer, well worth the time ...

Re: Potential Steamboats Queen Mary Lifeboats

I believe this one may be for sale again... Without the Hicks https://thesteamboatingforum.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=1418 Interesting, price for the hull and trailer still the same I assume? I have no interest in the Semple engine or boiler (nothing against them, the V compound is just not...

Quote: "I had seen video of a converted lifeboat in Indiana/Michigan on YouTube ages ago" Could have been the late Tom Stockton's boat the ''Arbor queen'', but a guy in Ohio has it now. There are four or five converted life boats in Michigan, I went to one meet in Michigan there were thre...

Re: Potential Steamboats Queen Mary Lifeboats

I wish I had seen the post a few weeks back, I tried contacting them, but got nothing in response. I was interested because I had seen video of a converted lifeboat in Indiana/Michigan on YouTube ages ago and thought it was quite a boat. Then I saw it again recently on Beckmann's Boat Shop for sale,...

Re: Potential Steamboats Queen Mary Lifeboats

One of these would be perfect, but I have no way of getting out there to pick one up until this fall at the earliest. They're very cool boats, and would be a lot of fun to convert, plus they're metal and I'd get to give my new MIG welder a workout.

Thank you all for the warm welcome. I'm looking forward to learning more about steamboats, and especially having one of my own.

SS Alabama Lifeboat #4

I ran across videos of this converted lifeboat on YouTube years ago, and I just recently saw it for sale on Beckmann's Boat Shop website (that's where my screenshot came from) but he doesn't broker used boats anymore, and he never said if he had contact information for it or not. I'd love to find ou...

New guy on the forum

Hello hello, My name is Curt, and I've been bitten by the "ought to have a boat'' bug. I'm no stranger to steam, having grown up around both traction and stationary engines at various shows I've attended over the years, and worked on quite a few of the bigger stationary engines (I have an obses...
