A the start of June the SBA held a competition where members had to build a steam powered outboard motor. At the event these were attached to the back of a boat and took steam from the boat's boiler via a flexible hose. The competition took the form of a time trial but the main aim for most competitiors was just to have a bit of fun.
There were six entries of all shapes and sizes, pictures and more information on each engine can be found at: http://www.steamboatassociation.org.uk/ ... ic/1561039 and a video is available below.
Cheers

Re: Steam Outboard Motor Competition
Excellent!
I have an engine that J. Winn made(2.75 inch bore by 3 inch stroke, slip eccentric reversing mechanism). I may be the only one in the USA with one of his engines. It's one of my two engine candidates I have for the steam launch I plan to cobble together in the next year or so.
Good to see J. Winn is still at it and got 2nd place!
