Sacramento Delta Steamboat Regatta 2017
Captains and crew: Please mark your calendar for the 43ND annual Sacramento Delta Steamboat Regatta to be held at the B&W Resort, 984 Brannan Island Rd. (Delta Loop) on Sept. 28, 29 and Oct. 1, 2017.
At this time, B&W Resort does not have available cabins for rent. Last minute vacancies do occur so give them a call and be placed on a waiting list should a cabin become available.
Boats should start leaving the B&W docks on Saturday morning around 10 o’clock for the lunch cruise. It has been suggested that the picnic be moved from Westgate Landing to Tower Park Marina. It is approximately an hour long cruise on the Mokelumne River to Tower Park. Tower Park has ample docking and tables to enjoy lunch. The added feature is a store where lunch, hot and cold food, and drinks can be purchased for those who choose not to pack their lunch. Restrooms are clean, too! Both locations seem to be weed free and the water ways are open at this time!
On Saturday afternoon, a swap meet will be held at the B&W Resort dock area. Always a big turn out to buy, sell or trade those “valuable treasures”.
At 6 o’clock Saturday night, the group has a potluck dinner held on the levee road between the upper cabins and the boat docks. Please bring your plate, silverware, drinks and a favorite dish (or dishes) to share. Appetites are hardy after a full day of steaming. Main dishes, salads and desserts are always delicious. B&W provides the tables and benches. They request that we not remove the kitchen tables or chairs from the cabins, please.
Night voyages on Georgianna Slough or the Mokelumne River are fun to take. Please, remember your running lights so you can spot those floating logs in the water and fellow boaters can see you.
Your steam cars, RC toys, models, steam projects in the making and antique engines for show and tell are enjoyed by everyone.
For those wishing to go out to breakfast, lunch or dinner, there are many establishments located on Brannon Island Road that can be reached by boat or car.
The B&W Resort Store has some prepared food and is well stocked with ice, soft drinks, beer, wine, liquor, snacks, ice cream and sundries for sale. B&W, also, offer tractor assistance when launching boats or getting the boats back out of the water and onto the trailers. Our thanks to their staff for hosting our group all these years!
See you soon and let’s make it a safe, fun and memorable weekend!
Regards,
Jerry & Phyllis Blain
