Multi Fuel Burner MB 10/18
Hello,
here some more facts about the Multi Fuel Burner MB 10/18.
The burner was built in the 80ies of last century by WEBASTO for field kitchens and manual operating. Its maximal output is 30.000 kcal (34,9 kWh), so one suits for small steam plants up to 3,5 kW (4,75 Hp) (10% thermal efficiency). It is a pressureless one.
There is the outer casing and the inner burner unit with the vaporising pipes and two separate adjustable burners and a thermoelectric flame control.
To be continued.

That is a beautiful design. Much credit to German engineering!
Do you know if it can be started with motor fuel (deisel) or must it be started with gasoline or something else?
Also whether it can be turned down to low output for slow running?
Danke,

Very cool!
But, why didn't they make it 6,25HP instead?
I keep toying with the idea of making something like this burner, or they had one in a recent Funnel Issue that just sat on the grates.
Most know, I designed Nyitra to be crewed by 2. But I have found myself alone sometimes, and something like this burner for Kerosene, Diesel, or propane would really make it more manageable.
Also would make it a heck of a lot easier to move and process the fuel....

Hello Mike,
Dietrich
it can be started with both fuels. The lighting procedure is a bit different and the mixing tube (see picture above) is set to the right position. I will test it and show the results.Do you know if it can be started with motor fuel (deisel) or must it be started with gasoline or something else?
Yes, the two burners in the unit can be regulated independent from each other so you can find the right resulting flame size. Also whether it can be turned down to low output for slow running?

I can't believe I mistook the euro symbol for the pound symbol.
