Lune Valley boiler insulation question, my last ... honest!
All casing panels are now insulated with ceramic board, but I seem to remember someone saying that the void space at the rear of the steam and mud tubes AND the space above the steam should be filled with a ceramic wool.
Is this advisable?
Thanks
Ian

I do not know quite what you mean by the by the spaces you discribe but all of the out side walls need to be insulated. Also any space that is not a space for the flow of the flame should be filled in. In this type of boiler this means on the out side of the downcommers.ianrichards wrote:All casing panels are now insulated with ceramic board, but I seem to remember someone saying that the void space at the rear of the steam and mud tubes AND the space above the steam should be filled with a ceramic wool.

Would the downcomers be the pipes that connect the two tubes?
If so, then I understand what you mean and will fill in those spaces.
I’m pretty sure that we are talking about the same area.
Will try and post some pictures of work in progress
Thanks guys
