Milwaukee Replacements bought and will be installed.
I also made this repair to a Nibco, which I will try in a non critical isolated fashion.
It uses a Taper pin and allows the valve seat to float/have play but keeps the valve seat and jam locknut captive.
This is my first time using a taper pin. I got a drill+ream for 1/8" tapered pins and some ss pins. I like how I drove it home with a hammer into the tapered hole I made. I then peened it into the jam nut a bit.

Sounds like Nibco owes you some money!
