"what would you do with it"
I've been on the fence about possibly building a bigger tug and that engine would make the decision for me. That engine is about right for a 28 - 32 footer.
I was mostly joking, but if you take interest in possibly going another route with your steamboat plans, I would definitely be interested.

Very beautiful, nice work!
I'm not familiar with this arrangement.
I looked back at your other welcome post "The new guy", but could someone explain the 4 cylinders in this block - and also the oil galleries? Mechanican oil pump? I see what looks like cylinder petcocks daisy changed together also - do they have checks (ball checks?) so that the open petcock of one side of the cylinder doesn't go back to the other side of the cylinder?

High pressure cylinder, low pressure cylinder, the other smaller ones are the valves. Not sure what you are referring to as oil galleries, but there are none. There are no ball checks between the upper and lower drains. Cheers Mike

Re: Savery 32
Mike,
Is there any sort of design feature that would facilitate "simpling"? Possibly an integrated valve between the HP piston valve and the LP piston valve? "Simpling" means admitting high pressure steam to both cylinders for starting off or when high power is needed - converting the engine to a twin cylinder "simple" rather than a compound.
The drains on each cylinder look to be just 3 way valves - all three open - all three closed when switched. The long top drain line would fill with condensate - no check valves needed. Where check valves are needed is when all the drains are ran in to one valve.

What I meant by oil galleries is the two little boxes on the sides that look like they flip open. Each has at least 4 copper pipes going downward.
