Can anyone recommend a metric tap and die set without spending silly money.
I know you get what you pay for.
I already have decent imperial sets, but now find I need (reluctantly) a metric set.
The range needs to be up to 12 mm.
I’ve already looked at Chronos and Axminster sites, but am unsure.
TIA
Ian

Ian, not too far from you is Tracy Tools, tap and die specialists. They also have a website and online ordering. They are very quick with postal deliveries.ianrichards wrote:Can anyone recommend a metric tap and die set without spending silly money.

I tend to buy carbon steel taps and dies initially, and replace with HSS, if I wear one out or break it. It keeps the costs reasonable.

Re: Taps and die set wanted UK
Thanks.
I’ve just remembered about Tracy Tools, that’s where my other sets came from.
They’ve got a metric course boxed set at £55 that would probably do me just right.
Excuse the stupid question, but is “course” the standard ?
Thanks
Ian
