There are YouTube videos on doing the wood grain paint of car dashboards.

I've had really bad luck with contact cement in a marine environment. In my sailboat the moisture penetrates through the plywood (I think) and the countertops lift. Also had it fail in veneers to cover flaws on bulkheads.

I think it works O.K. in a house but my boat sits unheated and the cement fails after a year or two.
If you think you are too small to make a difference, try sleeping with a mosquito.
