Google has a very ambitious project going, to scan out of print books and make them available on line. There are sure to be gems for steamboaters. But has anyone cracked the search engine? I can look for and find books that I know about and have the details. For example I have an old book called "Modern Marine Engineering" by NP Burgh, and because I know its details I can search for it and find it, scanned from the University of Michigan.

But the amount of available material is huge. How do you find relevant books that you don't know the author and title, without returning thousands of little snippets containing your key words?
