The SS Badger is the last coal fired commercial car ferry on the Great Lakes.
It has Skinner Uniflow Steam Reciprocating engines, basically the pinnacle of technology of reciprocating steam engines.
Boatnerd is having it's 4th annual Outing/Excursion June 3rd and 4th. This includes a special tour on Friday June 3rd, and the option to sleep onboard the Badger. Saturday the 4th it will depart from Ludington Michigan across lake Michigan to Maitowoc Wisconsin and back.

P.S. Although my steamboating forum name is cyberbadger I am not affiliated in anyway with the SS Badger or Boatnerd.

Re: SS Badger 4th Annual Boatnerd Excursion (Lake Michigan)
It is definitely on my "bucket List", but not for this year. This weekend I will be running the John Fitch Steamboat replica model on the very same pond he used in 1783 as proof of concept for a steamboat. He ran the first passenger steamboat on the Delaware River, in scheduled commercial service, in 1790.
