Here are a few photos of Iras, 1907 Sam Saunders 30' launch, triple layer mahogany, brass prop and drive shaft, no engine or gearbox as this boat has had many different engines over the years, I have paid many invoices from Alan Staley classic boat builder of Faversham, Kent, from 17/06/08 to 30/11/11 totaling £22,154.19, I had the boat media blasted with silver sand to get the old varnish off and get it back to the original timber so I could see what had to be restored, I purchased the galvanised boat trailer triple axle which it fits just right at a cost of £2,500, the top deck was replaced by Colin Henman of Henley on Thames, about 18 years ago, the boat was originally called 'Saltine' and was built in Cows, IOW, in 1907 for Mr J.A.Greenwood of Chichester, 29.8 ft long, 5.8 ft beam motor launch to seat 12 passengers. it was then Purchased by Mr C.R. Webb in 1975, she was restored the following year and fitted with a 1904 steam engine manufactured by Simpson, Strictland & Co. of Dartmouth, A Stuart Turner No. 6 engine was fitted in 1983, last but two owner was Mr John Partidge in 1985, I purchased her from Mr Katchadorian of Pullborough on 12/05/08. at a cost of £20,000. The boats number is 181993.
Regrettable price which has now been reduced to £19,995.
