All behind the scenes stuff, Wes. The teak deck is almost laid and then I start on the cover boards. Meanwhile, I dropped and set the pistons in the engine, and am installing the lube and drain fittings. Also experimenting with cylinder jacketing.

Once it gets too cold for the shop, I hope to finish up the boiler at the railroad.

Steve,

She looks great and will be a real beauty.

Another idea on transferring an irregular shape like that:

Tape down tight wax paper over the area of the perimeter, then tape down taught carbon paper ink side up, then white heavy stock drafting paper over the top. Then take a small hammer or piece of steel rod and tap out the perimeter, leaving an impression on the paper. The wax paper will protect the bright work. Just another way to get to the same place.

When I was building the Loco body, there were some components up in the front inside body with angles running all over. Cutting a pattern with scissors and getting it right was about impossible as there was no way to trace it. I wound up getting some heavy 1/16" balsa and some 2P-10 superglue. I roughed the first piece in and then cut and glued/stacked on smaller pieces to fit up all of the angular surfaces around the perimeter. Once it was all assembled in the opening, removed it and then I had a good pattern. The balsa could then be cut, sanded for perfect fit. The 2P-10 woodworkers glue sets in about 10 seconds.

Ken, yes, nickel-plated stainless.

Ron, thank you for the tracing ideas. Some of these I'm not familiar with.
