Site Suggestions

Post by Dhutch » Mon Oct 10, 2011 11:02 am

Not an FAQ, but can we have a site-suggestions area?

In the mean time, can i suggestion for both a 'Real Name' and a 'Boat Name' feild in the user profile, and for the boatname to be displayed by each post under the users name.

Cant help feel I must have bumped into a fair few of the members at rally events, but with only a username to go on, cannot easly match up the faces, names and boats!

I understand there is, or has been, and issue with the word diesal being replaced by a over-active word replacment filter.

I was always taught (at least since the late 1960s) that:
Steamboats are called "a lot of fun"
Dies*ls are called "dismals"
Gasoline engines are called "Infernal Combustion Engines"

Other options besing Diseasils and Infernal Confusion Engines. I did hear once a wonderful statement that said the engineer in question refused to go to sea propelled by a series of explosions.

I have added a Boat Name field. Look in User Control Panel, Profile, and it should appear at the bottom.

The Profanity filter is set to keep the filthy words like d1esel off the forum.
I've got the vehicle, just need the boat.

As I usually click on "View New Posts" or another string when I come on-line, perhaps a "Return" button at the bottom of the Posts would be useful to be able to pick up the next one without having to scroll back to the top and re-select.......or am I missing something?

What about steam engines fired with said fractional distillate of petrochemical, derv powered tow cars, boats which had or now have a certain type of internal combustion engine (note the word combustion, there is no explosion in the normal running of IC engine) just appears a really odd thing to do, especially as there is no warning for an unaware member using the work for the first time.

Diesel my arse.

Perhaps the wrong place to ask this but I cannot find the spell checking function.

The text window underlines words it is unhappy with but doesn't give me any suggestions. For instance, just now I composed a text with the word "combinations" which I'm reasonably sure is spelled that way but it is underlined in the window.

I suppose I can compose in a word processor and paste it over here but that's a bunch of extra work.

If I'm over looking the function, please help. If not, is it a big hassle to add such a thing?
